DHAKA, Nov 28, 2024 (BSS) - Stock markets today finished the session of the
week flat amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
5.34 points down at 5,192.59. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend
with 1.19 point down at 1916.23. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with
0.32 point up at 1166.89.
Market analysts observed that despite the market opening higher, extending
the positive momentum from the previous session, cautious investors'
subsequent profit booking spree due to shaky market confidence dragged down
the indices again.
However, market turnover slightly increased by 5.0 percent to Taka 4.7
billion as against Taka 4.5 billion in the previous session. On the sectoral
front, Bank (17.9 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by
Pharma (12.6pc) and Food (9.7pc) sectors.
Most of the sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Ceramic (2.0pc),
Travel (1.1pc) and Pharma (0.4pc) exerted the most gains while only Jute (-
1.9pc), Financial Institutions (-1.9pc) and Services (-1.4pc) exerted the
mast corrections on the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 125 advanced, 195 declined and 77 remained
unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on green terrain. The selected
indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose by 39.2 and 62.8
points, respectively.
