DHAKA, Nov 04, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, advanced by 12.3 points and settled at a 2-week high of 5,238 points as against 5,226 points in the previous trading session. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips also gained 6.72 points to finish at 1,927.88. But the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) closed the day with 2.29 points down at 1,172.25.
Meanwhile, market turnover fell by 7.0 percent to Taka 4.8 billion as against Taka 5.1 billion in the previous session. On the sectoral front, Pharma (15.2 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (13.0 percent) and Textile (10.0 percent) sectors.
Most of the sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Mutual Fund (5.6 percent), Paper (1.2 percent) and Pharma (0.8 percent) exerted the most gains while Jute (-2.4 percent), Financial Institutions (-2.0 percent) and Services (-1.7 percen) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 135 advanced, 206 declined and 56 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on green terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose by 32.2 and 42.9 points, respectively.
