DHAKA, Dec 11, 2024 (BSS) - The government today approved separate proposals
for procuring 1.30 lakh Metric Tons (MTs) of fertilizer to meet the growing
demand of the country.
The approval came from the 16th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on
Government Purchase (ACCGP) this year held at the Cabinet Division conference
room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Adviser to the interim government on the
Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, he said following a proposal from the
Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC)
would procure some 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC
Agri-nutrient Company, Saudi Arabia under the 12th lot for the fiscal year
(FY25) with around Taka 123.23 crore with per ton fertilizer costing
US$342.33.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh
Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure some 30,000 MTs of
MPO fertilizers under state-level agreement from JSC Foreign Economic
Corporation "Prodintorg", Russia under the fifth lot for the fiscal year
(FY25) with around Taka 104.31 crore with the cost of per ton fertilizer
reaching $289.75.
Following another proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the BADC would
procure some 40,000 MTs of DAP fertilizers from OCP Nutricrops, Morocco under
the ninth lot for the fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 280.68 crore with
per ton fertilizer costing $584.75.
Following another proposal, the BADC would procure some 30,000 MTs of TSP
fertilizers from OCP Nutricrops, Morocco under the 11th lot for the fiscal
year (FY25) with around Taka 152.46 crore with the price of per ton
fertilizer fixed at $423.50.
