DHAKA, Dec 14, 2024 (BSS) - Sk. Bashir Uddin, Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Textiles & Jute, has visited the office of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) to see for himself the activities of the Institute.
Upon arrival of the Commerce Adviser at the ICAB office on Thursday, ICAB President Mohammed Forkan Uddin briefed the Adviser about the activities of ICAB including bringing discipline and ensuring transparency, accountability and good governance in the economy of the country, said an ICAB press release today.
The ICAB President mentioned that the institute produces skilled manpower by imparting chartered accountancy education as the primary regulator of the profession.
He also mentioned to the Adviser that chartered accountants are conducting statutory audits as per the Companies Act, 1994.
Forkan sought support from the Ministry of Commerce as the parent ministry in professional development.
The Adviser also urged the professional Chartered Accountants to work collectively for the betterment of the financial sector of the country.
He advised the Council of the Institute to come forward with specific policy reform proposals for the financial sector of the country including for the direct and indirect tax regime.
ICAB Vice President MBM Lutful Hadee, Vice President Maria Howlader, ICAB immediate past President Md. Moniruzzaman, Council Members & former Presidents Kamrul Abedin, Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Council Member Md. Mahamud Hosain, Chief Executive Officer Shubhashish Bose, Chief Operating Officer Mahbub Ahmed Siddique, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the key involvement of the professional accountants in the financial sector.
Other senior officials of ICAB were also present at the time.
