DHAKA, Dec 18, 2024 (BSS) - The government today approved separate
proposals for procuring rice, lentil and edible oil to address
domestic demands and stabilize markets.
The approvals came from the 17th meeting of the Advisers
Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held here at the
Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Adviser to the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting.
Following a proposal of the Ministry of Food, the Food Authority would
procure 50,000 MT of non-Basmati boiled rice through an international
open tender from M/S Bagadiya Brothers Private Limited, Indian at a
total cost of Tk 274 crore, with each MT priced at $456.67.
In response to a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run
Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure some 10,000 MTs
of lentil from Sheikh Agro Food Industries under local Open Tender
Method (OTM) with around Taka 95.40 crore where per kilogram (Kg)
lentil would cost Taka 95.40.
The TCB would also procure 1.10 crore litres of soybean oil under
local OTM for the current fiscal year from City Edible Oil Limited
with around Taka 189.47 crore with the price of per litre oil fixed at
Taka 172.25.
