DHAKA, Dec 19, 2024 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the last two sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), slightly advanced by 13.4 points and settled at 5,222 points against 5,208 points in the previous trading session.
Market analysts observed that market volatility persisted for the majority of today's session as investors remained active on both sides of the trading board, while late-session buying activity led the market to end on the positive territory.
Meanwhile, market turnover again decreased by 16.6% to BDT 3.4 billion as against Taka 4.0 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (25.3%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (10.3%) and Bank (8.5%) sectors.
Sectors mostly displayed mixed returns, out of which Telecom (0.7%), Ceramic (0.6%) and Financial Institutions (0.5%) exhibited the most gains on the bourse today, while IT (-1.2%), Paper (-0.8%) and Services (0.6%) exerted the most corrections.
Out of the 397 Issues traded, 116 advanced, 200 declined and 81 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on green terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose by 21.5. and 33.5 points, respectively.
