DHAKA, Dec 22, 2024 (BSS) – Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 25.2 points and settled at 5,196 points as against 5,222 points in the previous trading session.
Market analysts observed that the market remained downbeat throughout the session with widespread sell-offs from cautious investors that pushed the majority of scrips sliding into red territory.
Meanwhile, market turnover also decreased by 6.8 percent to Taka 3.1 billion as against Taka 3.4 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (20.4 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (11.8 percent) and Bank (10.4 percent) sectors.
Almost all the sectors displayed dismal returns, out of Services (-1.9 percent), Ceramic (-1.8 percent) and Textile (-1.6 percent) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today while only Food (0.2 percent) exhibited marginal gains.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 65 advanced, 280 declined and 52 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 24.7 and 54.6 points, respectively.
