NBR simplifies e-return submission for those not having biometrically registered SIM cards

DHAKA, Dec 29, 2024 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has simplified the process for submission of e-returns for those who do not have SIM cards which are biometrically registered.

If any taxpayer does not have a SIM card that is registered biometrically despite having NID card, then he or she will not be able to file income tax returns online like everyone else.

However, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has come up with a solution that will ease the problem.

The NBR has announced details of the whole process for the convenience of all citizens. The process includes a bit of physical work.

First, a taxpayer needs to apply to the NBR to get qualified for filing e-returns. Any person falling under the said category will have to visit the NBR headquarters in Agargaon.

"Taxpayers without biometric SIM can apply in person for the e-return registration at the NBR office, Second Secretary (Tax Information Management and Valuation), Room 717," the NBR said in a press statement.

As per the statement, nearly 10 lakh taxpayers have submitted their income tax returns.

The deadline, which has been extended several times, for the submission without any penalty is set to end on January 31.
