DHAKA, Dec 6, 2025 (BSS) - The general point-to-point inflation rate in
Bangladesh slightly eased in December last as it reached 10.89 percent down
from 11.38 percent in November, 2024.
According to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS),
the decline was mainly driven by a fall in both food and non-food inflation.
In 2024, the point-to-point food inflation declined to 12.92 percent in
December, down from 13.80 percent in November, the BBS data showed.
Meanwhile, the non-food inflation rate also showed a slight decline reaching
9.26 percent in December, down from 9.39 percent in November, 2024.
The point-to-point inflation rate both in the urban and rural areas also
declined last month. In the rural areas, it was 11.09 percent in December
which was 11.53 percent in November, 2024.
The food inflation in the rural areas was 12.63 percent in December, down
from 13.41 percent in November, 2024 while the non-food inflation rate
declined to 9.65 percent in December, down from 9.72 percent in November,
2024.
On the other hand, the point-to-point inflation rate in the urban areas in
December, 2024 was 10.84 percent which was 11.37 percent in November.
The food inflation rate in the urban areas in December was 13.56 percent
which was 14.63 percent in November, 2024 while the non-food inflation rate
in December, 2024 was 9.17 percent which was 9.31 percent in November, 2024.
The wage rate index in December, 2024 was 8.14 percent which was 8.10 percent
in November in 2024.
