DHAKA, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) - The country's both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- on Sunday plunged due
to mainly a price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, declined 34.1 points to
settle at 5,132 points against 5,167 points in the previous trading session.
Apparently, stagnancy in trading activities continues with market turnover
further decreasing by 10.6 percent (pc) to Taka 3.2 billion as against Taka
3.6 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Textile (19.4pc) issues exerted the highest turnover,
followed by Pharma (12.6pc) and Bank (10.8pc) sectors. Most of the sectors
displayed dismal returns, out of which Ceramic (-2.4pc), Financial
Institution (-1.5pc) and Jute (-1.4pc) exerted the most corrections, while
Services (0.9pc), IT (0.4pc) and Textile (0.4pc) exhibited marginal gains on
the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 74 advanced, 254 declined and 69 remained
unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The Selective
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 40.6 and
65.5 points, respectively.
