UMIDIGI kicks off official journey in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) - China-based smart device brand UMIDIGI has officially started journey here with the aim of making Bangladesh its production hub for regional distribution.

The brand has set up assembling plant here in the hi-tech park in Gazipur, targeting to distribute smartphones to Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives down the line. 

Talking to BSS, Masukur Rahman, Sales and Operations Head of UMIDIGI Bangladesh said their initial plan is to turn Bangladesh into a regional distribution hub for four countries. 

“We’re running our operation to the four countries from Bangladesh and planned to send smartphones there from our plant here in the country,” he said.

“In this year, we will concentrate to expand our footprint in Bangladesh market,” he said, adding, “Then our focus will move to the regional market in 2026.”

The local plant of UMIDIGI has over 10,000 smartphones assembling facility daily which is more than the demand of a single brand in local market.    

Masukur Rahman said that the four new smartphones-- UMIDIGI G9 5G, UMIDIGI G9C, UMIDIGI G9T and UMIDIGI G9A which have been unveiled in Bangladesh were the production of local assembling plant.

He continued UMIDIGI will bring revolution to the smartphone market with high-quality, high-spec devices with unbeatable prices.

Moreover, the brand plans to establish 12 service centers and 10 collection points across the country soon, he added.

UMIDIGI Bangladesh officials said it is assembling smartphones locally to contribute to the country’s manufacturing growth. The company is committed to investing in both online and offline branding and marketing.  

The UMIDIGI G9 5G, powered by Android 14, features a 6.75-inch display, comes with 12GB RAM (including 6GB virtual RAM), and 128GB of storage. It is also equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging. 

On the other hand, the UMIDIGI G9C features a 6.75-inch display, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storages.

Zhou, Managing Director of UMIDIGI Bangladesh, said they would unveil more surprises in the coming Eid-ul-Fitr.  
 
At the ceremony, UMIDIGI announced that it will launch two more smartphones before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr: UMIDIGI 100 Note and Note AI.
