Grameenphone posts revenue of TK 39.5b in Q3

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh’s leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone reported a total revenue of TK 39.5 billion at the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, registering a de-growth of 3.8 percent from the same period of the previous year.

Besides, the operator’s total subscribers   stood at 84.6 million at the end of Q3, while 58.3 percent of the total or 49.3 million are using internet services.
 
“This quarter allowed us to test the resilience of our business,” said Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yasir Azman while revealing the quarterly financial update through media release today.

He said the Q3 began with a positive trend, but several days of unrest and internet shutdowns, along with unprecedented floods in several regions, have significantly impacted the economy and business of Grameenphone.

“Our revenue declined only 3.8 percent to 39.5 billion, while EBITDA reached a solid 23.2 billion, down by 8.7 percent,” he added.

Grameenphone Chief Financial Officer Otto Risbakk said “We’re able to achieve an EBITDA margin of 58.7 percent and an operating cash flow margin of nearly 49 percent.”

Attributing to their strong cash flow and solid balance sheet, he said “We’re able to adopt a long-term perspective regarding investments and innovation, while also maintaining an attractive shareholder remuneration policy.”
