RANGPUR, Nov 1, 2021 (BSS) - The month long 'Income Tax Return Receipt and
Tax Information Services 2021' began at Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner's
Office premises here today aiming to inspire and motivate eligible citizens
to easily pay income taxes.
Tax Commissioner for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Abu Hannan Delwar Hossain formally
inaugurated the month-long event in an atmosphere like the income tax fair in
a function arranged on the occasion as the chief guest.
Income tax officials are extending assistance to citizens on income tax,
registering or re-registering e-TIN numbers, e-TIN certificates and
calculation of income taxes and in filling out income tax return forms.
With Additional Commissioner of Taxes for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Md Monjur Alam
in the chair, its Deputy Commissioners of Taxes (Headquarters admin) Syed
Nurul Huda, Md Raufur Rahman (Headquarters Technical), Kornelues Kama and Taz
Mohammad Talukder, Inspectors of Taxes Md Mahidul Islam, Mahmudur Rahman,
Jahangir Alam and Md Abdur Rahman attended the function.
The chief guest with officials of Taxes Zone-Rangpur visited different
booths, inspected the process of submitting income tax returns, registering
or re-registering e-TIN numbers and talked to the taxpayers.
Income tax returns are being received and information services provided to
taxpayers at Rangpur, Dinajpur, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Ulipur,
Thakurgaon, Badarganj, Parbatipur, Fulbari, Bochaganj, Debiganj and Pirganj
in the zone.
On the inaugural day, 1,131 taxpayers received income tax related services
and information, 143 received e-TIN numbers, 27 submitted their e-TIN returns
and 732 taxpayers submitted normal income tax returns alongside paying Taka
15.80,794 in the zone today.
Talking to BSS, Tax Commissioner for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Abu Hannan Delwar
Hossain said a target of collecting Taka 850-crore income taxes as revenue
has been fixed for the current 2021-2022 fiscal year (FY) for Taxes Zone-
Rangpur.
Braving the Covid-19 pandemic, Taxes Zone-Rangpur collected Taka 779 crore
as income taxes exceeding the fixed target of Taka 760 crore by 19 crore or
2.50 percent during the last 2020-2021 FY.
Terming taxpayers as honourable citizens, he called upon eligible citizens
to pay income tax spontaneously for strengthening national economy to
accelerate national uplift on the way to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041
next.
"The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has made the income tax payment system
easier through modernisation of tax fixation method to make it more realistic
with change in mindsets of officials concerned to increase revenue
collection," he added.
