DHAKA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - Business leaders from Bangladesh and Bhutan today stressed the need for tapping the potentials for expanding bilateral trade in the agricultural products, including fruits, vegetables, and spices. 

Business leaders of both the countries also emphasized on further strengthening partnership and mutual cooperation between the two countries in this regard.

The emphasis was made when the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) held a discussion meeting with Bhutanese business delegation at the FBCCI office in the capital’s Motijheel area today.

During the meeting, they discussed unexplored and potential areas for expanding bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Bhutan, said an FBCCI press release.

The Bhutanese business delegation was led by Dawa Dakpa, Regional Director of the Regional Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative Office (RAMCO). Head of FBCCI’s International Affairs Wing Md. Zafar Iqbal and Minister Counselor (Commerce) of the Bhutanese Embassy in Dhaka Dawa Tshering were present at the meeting.

The business leaders at the meeting called for further simplification of the import-export process between Bangladesh and Bhutan to exploit mutual market potentials. They also emphasized on developing supply chain, infrastructures and increasing port capacity.

FBCCI former Directors Haji Md. Enayetullah, Dr. Ferdousi Begum, President of Bangladesh Agro Feed Ingredients Importers and Traders Association A. M. Amirul Islam Bhuiyan, General Body Member of FBCCI Md. Zakir Hossain, Sheikh Al Mamun, among others, were present at the meeting.
