DHAKA, April 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has organized a webinar titled "Chartered Secretary Profession-Opportunities and Challenges" highlighting the growing significance of chartered secretaries in today's complex corporate world.
M Nurul Alam, acting president of ICSB, delivered the welcome speech and chaired the webinar yesterday evening through online platform.
Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury, director & Chief Executive Officer of Lafargeholcim Bangladesh PLC, presented a keynote paper on the aforesaid topic.
Mohammad Sanaullah, former president and council member of ICSB; and CEO & lead consultant of Mohammad Sanaullah & Associates, Chartered Secretaries & Management Consultants and M. Naseemul Hye, Council Member of ICSB and Deputy Managing Director (Chief Compliance Officer), Meghna Cement Mills PLC were the discussants of the Seminar.
Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, council member and chairman of the examination committee of ICSB, moderated the webinar, said a press release today.

He emphasized the growing significance of chartered secretaries in today's complex corporate world, highlighting opportunities in governance, strategy, and global careers, while acknowledging challenges like regulatory changes and technological disruptions.
Alam encouraged continuous learning and collaboration to strengthen the profession's future impact.
Keynote Speaker Iqbal Chowdhury conducted a live survey to understand the perception of the participants regarding emerging trends, areas of interest, expectations, challenges and opportunities.
In his keynote presentation, he emphasized the evolving role of chartered secretaries beyond traditional boundaries, highlighting the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and multifaceted leadership.
The webinar showcased how chartered secretaries are shaping their careers across corporate governance, finance, entrepreneurship, and beyond.
Participants were urged to embrace change, focus on skills development, and pursue lifelong learning to unlock limitless professional opportunities.
Mohammad Sanaullah said chartered secretaries are capable of stepping into any leadership role whining an organization, with boundless opportunities.
In addition, he strongly emphasised to explore the cross-border opportunity for the chartered secretaries. He also urged to improve the knowledge of information technology and stay acquainted with advancements in artificial intelligence and tech-driven atmosphere.
Another discussant M. Naseemul Hye pointed on how chartered secretaries are evolving from compliance officers to governance leaders nowadays.
He also urged the professionals to enhance their IT skills, especially in the area of artificial intelligence, to effectively deal with the emerging cyber threats.
Naseemul also emphasized the importance of dealing with stakeholders transparently and with integrity to sustain their trust.
Additionally, he stressed the need to avoid all forms of conflict of interest and highlighted that demonstrating excellence is essential for survival in today's competitive environment.
The discussion session was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where the session chairman, keynote speaker, discussants answered to various questions.
