CHATTOGRAM, April 6, 2022 (BSS) - The first tea auction for 2022-23 auction year will begin at Chattogram Tea Auction Center on April 25.
The first auction will also be held on April 28 at Srimangal, the second tea auction center in the country.
Major General Ashraful Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Tea Board (BTA), disclosed the decision at a meeting of Tea Sales Co-ordination Committee, held at 11 am today.
It was informed in the meeting that a total of 45 tea auctions will be held in Chattogram and 23 in Srimangal in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Speaking on the occasion, Asharaful Islam said that tea production and auction activities were become normal in the country due to various initiatives taken by the Tea Board and implementation of various plans and sincere efforts of the tea industry stakeholders.
As a result, there was a balance between the demand and supply of tea in the market and the increase in production as well as the sale and price of tea at auction increased.
The tea board chairman hoped that the tea market would remain stable in the 2022-23 auction year as well.
BTB member, Finance and Commerce Nazneen Kauser Chowdhury, Deputy Director Muhammad Madhul Kabir Chowdhury, Marketing Officer Ahsan Habib, Assistant Director Mohammad Abdullah Al Borhan, Tea Traders Association of Bangladesh Chairman Omar Hannan, Vice Chairman Md. Iqbal Hossain, Bangladesh Tea Association (BTA) representative Khorshedul Alam Qaderi and Md. Rafiqul Karim, National Brokers Ltd Chairman M Saiful Islam, Director of Tea Planters and Traders Association of Bangladesh (TPTAB) Abu Kausar Lablu, among others, attended the inaugural meeting.
