Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, April 28, 2022 (BSS) - Stocks today witnessed downward trend
due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by
21.98 points or 0.33 per cent to settle at 6,655.67. Two other indices
also closed lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 5.40
points to finish at 2,460.77 and the DSE Shariah Index fell 6.45
points to close at 1,446.98.

The daily trade turnover on the DSE also plunged to Taka 869.81 crore
which was Taka 932.49 crore at the previous session of the week.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 380 issues
traded, 241 closed lower, 90 higher and 49 issues remained unchanged
on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco continued to dominate the turnover chart, followed by JHRML,
GPH Ispat, UNIQUEHRL and Naheea Cap.

SAPORTL was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.75 per cent
while SBAC Bank was the worst loser, losing 5.93 per cent following
its price adjustment after record date.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended lower with its All Shares
Price Index (CASPI)-slumping 138.37 points to close at 19,474.46 while
the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 83.79 points to close
at 11,684.90.

Of the issues traded, 193 declined, 62 advanced and 30 remained
unchanged on the CSE.

The port city bourse traded 1.06 crore shares and mutual fund units
with turnover value of more than Taka 35 crore.
