DHAKA, July 29, 2021 (BSS) - Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Ghazi said that 'Dhakai Muslin House' will be set up for a large scale commercial production of Bangladesh's golden tradition Muslin.
He said this while addressing a meeting at the conference room of his ministry at the secretariat here today, said a press release.
The minister said a plan has been taken to build a 'Dhakai Muslin House' on the land of Jute Fiber Glass Industries at Tarabo in Rupganj upazila in the outskirts of Dhaka.
"The large scale commercial production will directly and indirectly create employment opportunities for a large number of people, especially women. It is hoped that soon Muslin cloth will be added to the list of export products of Bangladesh," the minister said.
Exporting Dhakai Muslin will earn a huge amount of foreign exchange and the image of Bangladesh in the international arena will be brighten, the minister added.
Secretary of the ministry Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Additional Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam, Bangladesh Weaving Board Chairman Mohammad Shah Alam and other senior officials of the ministry were present on the occasion.
