RAJSHAHI, Jan 3, 2023 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion here unequivocally called for infusing dynamism into the social services for the welfare of the people with special needs and other underprivileged sections of the society.
 
They put emphasis on ensuring transparency and accountability in all the welfare-oriented social service activities so that the target group of people could derive total benefits of the welfare programmes.
 
Department of Social Services (DSS) and District administration jointly organised the discussion at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in observance of the National Social Service Day-2023 on Monday.
 
On the occasion, 30 blankets, four wheelchairs, one rickshaw van and 100 facemasks were handed over to the persons in need.

This year’s theme of the day is ‘Unnayan o Sammridhir Agrajatrai, Desh Garbo Samajsebai’.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Arefin Jewel, Civil Surgeon Dr Abu Sayed Muhammad Faruque and DSS Additional Director Debashish Sarker spoke as special guests with DSS Deputy Director Hasina Momtaz in the chair.
 
The deputy commissioner said the government is implementing various social safety net programs for overall development of the public in general.
 
He urged the officials and staff concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for successful implementation of the programmes taken by the government.
 
Nearly 100 government and non-government officials and employees and volunteers joined the programme.
