KHULNA, June 23, 2021 (BSS) - Khulna city today saw a strict lockdown as all the business establishments, including shops, and offices were remained closed for the second consecutive day.
 
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain announced the lockdown on Saturday following recommendation of district Coronavirus prevention management committee as infection rate has increased in the district to a great extent over the last two weeks.  
Beginning at 6am on Tuesday the lockdown will continue till June 28 in order to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection.
 
Law enforcement agencies including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police and Ansar have been deployed across the city and district to implement the lockdown strictly.
 
While visiting in the city’s different areas, this reporter found that all shops, markets, business center and other establishments except some grocery shops and kitchen markets were remained closed.
 
 Vehicles were remained off on the city streets except some rickshaws and three wheeler easy bikes.
 
RAB, Police and Ansar were seen deployed at different points in the city.
 
Khulna DC Mohammad Helal Hossain requested people not to go outside of their residences without any emergency.
 
“Every citizen must wear mask and maintain social distance to stem the spread of Coronavirus infection.”
