Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day observed in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 10, 2023 (BSS) - The historical Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed here paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu today.
 
The district and city units of Awami League and its associated bodies chalked out daylong programs to celebrate the historical day of Bangabandhu's return to independent Bangladesh on January 10, 1972.
 
Leaders of the district and city units of Swechchasebak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Krishak League, Sramik League and other associate bodies also observed the day.
 
The programs included hoisting of the national and party flags atop party offices, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and rallies followed by placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu, doa mehfils and discussions.
 
In the afternoon, Rangpur city Awami League organized a discussion at the Town Hall auditorium in the city.
 
Presided over by Convener of Rangpur city Awami League Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain, its Joint Convener Md. Abul Kashem moderated the discussion.
 
Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University participated in the discussion as the keynote Speaker.
 
Former Treasurer of Begum Rokeya University Professor Md. Mozammel Hossain and heroic freedom fighter Professor Md. Abdus Sobhan and President of Rangpur Ainjibi Samity Advocate Md. Abdul Malek addressed the discussion.
 
Former President of Rangpur city Awami League and its former General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal also spoke.
 
Rangpur district Awami League arranged another discussion at its office in Betpotti area of the city in the evening.
 
Presided over by Convener of Rangpur district Awami League AKM Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, its Joint Convener Mazed Ali Babul moderated the discussion participated by a large number of leaders of the district Awami League and its associate bodies.
 
Speakers in the discussions narrated the enormous importance of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day in the history of Bangladesh and national life.     
 
They called upon the party leaders and workers to work unitedly and selflessly to realize the dream of Bangabandhu through building a developed country to make independence meaningful for everyone.
 
They also called for further strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and resisting all evil forces to build a developed Smart Bangladesh by 2041 as envisioned by the Prime Minister to pay proper respect to Bangabandhu.
