RANGPUR, Feb 7, 2023 (BSS)-Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Nure Alam Mina today said Imams can play the most crucial role in creating a society free from terrorism, militancy and drugs for building a smart society.
 
“If proper religious consciousness can be spread among the people of all levels, it is possible to eliminate terrorism, militancy and drugs from the society,” he said.
 
The Commissioner was addressing a discussion titled ‘Role of Imams in Building Smart Society’ organised by RpMP with the assistance of Islamic Foundation at its auditorium here as chief guest.
 
Presided over by Divisional Director of the Islamic Foundation Md. Shahjahan, Imams of different mosques, Madrasa teachers, officials, employees and trainers of the Islamic Foundation participated in the event.
 
Additional Commissioner of the RpMP Md. Saifuzzaman Faruqi, its Deputy Commissioner City Special Branch Abu Bakar Siddique and Deputy Commissioner Crime Md. Abu Maruf Hossain, Imam of Mithapukur Model Mosque Moulana Md. Akheruzzaman Azadi, Khatib of Begum Rokeya University Central Mosque Moulana Rakib Uddin Ahmed, Khatib of Court Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Md. Hafizul Islam, Khatib of Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Md. Bayezid Hussaine and Khatib of Carmichael College Central Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Mohammad Ali Sarkar addressed the discussion.
 
Highlighting the importance of Imams in creating a society free from terrorism, militancy and drugs, the chief guest said Imams can shed light on the issues in religious discussions, including the ‘Khutba’ before Juma prayers on Fridays.
 
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has built beautiful model mosques across the country with government funding to spread the religion of Islam.

The Muslims are offering prayers and practicing religion in a beautiful manner at these mosques.
 
“Therefore, Imams can play an important role in keeping people of the society away from the things that are forbidden in the religion, including anarchy in the country, loss of people's lives and property and false propaganda,” he said.
