RAJSHAHI, Feb 13, 2023 (BSS) - Integrated efforts of all government, non-government and voluntary organizations can be the crucial means of protecting children from all sorts of violence and repression.

Utmost emphasis should be given on ensuring fundamental rights to the children for their physical and mental development as today's children are the future citizens of the nation.

Administrative officials and others concerned came up with the observation while addressing the inaugural session of a three-day training workshop styled "Jiboner Joyjatra" here today.

On behalf of its 'Child Protection and Grooming Programme', Accelerating Protection for Children (APC) Project under the Ministry of Women and Children organized the workshop at the conference hall of Divisional Commissioner.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division GSM Zafarullah and APC Project Director SM Latif addressed the opening ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil in the chair.

APC Programme Coordinator Muhammad Arifuzzaman, Programme Expert Kafil Uddin and Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs Shabnam Shirin also spoke on the occasion.
 
The views were expressed at a child protection dialogue with participation of media workers and members of the child protection committee here today.
 
Commissioner GSM Zafarullah put forward a set of recommendations on how to flourish latent talents of the children through ensuring congenial atmosphere.
 
He said responsive support from the community, especially local teacher, public representatives, parents and influential leaders has become indispensable to reduce the violence against children and child marriage.
 
GSM Zafarullah said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing diversified programmes to protect children.
 
All the government and non-government organizations concerned should come forward and work together with a positive mind-set for the well-being of the children, he added.

A total of 32 deputy directors and upazila women affairs officers from the project-covering areas are taking part in the workshop.
