Ekushey Book Fair draws a huge crowd in Khulna

KHULNA, Feb 14, 2023 (BSS) - The month-long Ekushey Book Fair-2023 wore a festive look with the buzz of book lovers at the Divisional Public Library premises here.

Huge enthusiasm and curiosity, thousands of visitors of all ages, particularly the youth and children, flocked to different stalls and pavilions to find out books of their beloved writers on the day.

Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, eminent educationalist and writer praised the organizers while visiting the book fair here yesterday.

Among others, Dr. Yasmin Haque, educationalist and wife of Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Mukul Kumar Moitro, Additional District Commissioner (Education and ICT), Md. Yousuf Ali, Deputy Director of Local Government Department of Deputy Commissioner office, were present in the Book Fair.      

The book fair has been designed by setting up 80 book stalls and 20 home-craft and food stalls.

Besides, police and other law enforcement forces have been deployed and 26 Close Circuit (CC) cameras have been installed in order to ensure tight security.

“There are two types of people in the world, some read books and some don't. Those who do not read books cannot contribute anything to the world. Everyone should read books if they want to give something to the country and society,” said Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal while addressing at a view exchange meeting with students and visitors last evening.
 
He said, reading books always increases fancy and imagination which is beneficial to the students.  

While visiting the Book Fair, this reporter witnessed that most of the readers are asking for the books titles “Humayan Ahmed Rochonaboli”, “Noksa Kata Koboj”, written by Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal.

Among the rising writers, Touhidur Rahman’s “Thriller Somogro” is the best-selling book in Khulna Book Fair, said K M Tuhin Babu, owner of Asfia Library Book Stall.
