RAJSHAHI, March 9, 2023 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in an anti-crime drive, arrested an alleged top-listed firearms trader with a firearm and ammunition in the city last night.
 
RAB sources said the arrested person was identified as Sarwar Jaman, 34, son of late Asaduzzaman of Bhadra area under Boalia Police Station in the city, said the RAB sources here this morning.
 
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Bhadra around 11.30 pm and arrested the person and recovered a foreign made pistol, one magazine and one knife from his possession.
 
The RAB team detained the person for his long-term involvement in firearms trading and trafficking. He was an absconder of 13 criminal cases, including robbery, arms, kidnapping and drugs, for a long time.
 
A case was filed with Boalia Police Station in this connection and the arrested person along with the seized firearm and ammunition was handed over to police this morning.
