Govt working for well-being of poor people: Monnujan

KHULNA, March 28, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian has said the incumbent government has been working tirelessly for the wellbeing of the labourers and marginalized poor people.

She said this while distributing government cheques amounting Taka 32.40 lakh among 108 marginal poor people and their children as financial assistance as the chief guest at Sheikh Motiar Rahman auditorium under Daulatpur Police Station in the city on Monday.

 Khulna city mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque addressed the event as the special guest while chairman of Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) Sheikh Sayed Ali, KCC councilor Sheikh Mohammad Ali, joint secretary of city unit Awami League Ashraful Alam and president of thana unit AL Sanaullah Nannu, among others, spoke it.

Joint Director of the Directorate of Labour Mizanur Rahman presided over the event.

"The incumbent government is being implementing various people-friendly projects for their livelihood," she said, adding that the government has already distributed Taka 93 crore, so far, among 20,000 distressed people.

A total of Taka 700 crore has been deposited for labourers, she said adding that distressed people in various profession have already been given financial support during the present government regime.

The joint director of the directorate informed that around Taka 10 crore has already been distributed in Khulna division, so far.
