RANGPUR, April 4, 2023 (BSS) - Mayor of Rangpur Md. Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa has said the proposed Integrated Solid Waste Management Improvement Project will be launched soon to ensure an eco-friendly, hygienic and clean environment in Rangpur city.
"Implementation of the project will improve public health and quality of life by reducing exposure to pollutants and disease vectors associated with solid waste and strengthen capacity to implement effective waste management services," he said.
Mostafa said this while addressing a stakeholder consultation on "Integrated Solid Waste Management for Rangpur City Corporation" held at the hall room of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) here on Monday afternoon as the chief guest.
Technical Assistance Project on Integrated Solid Waste Management Improvement Project for Integrated Solid Waste Management of the Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) organised the event.
The event was arranged aiming at speeding up preparatory activities for launching the LGED-proposed project marking the visit of an eight-member delegation of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to Rangpur city.
Executive Engineer of RpCC Md. Anisuzzaman presented the overall picture of Rangpur City Corporation in the event.
Presided over by Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Md. Ruhul Amin Miah, Project Director of the Second City Region Development Project of LGED Md. Hamidul Hoque, Financial Management Expert of AIIB) Yogesh Bom Malla, Waste Concern Consultant Architect and City Planner Abu Hasnat Md. Maqsood Sinha and Civil Engineer and City Planner Iftekhar Enayetullah spoke as special guests.
Superintending Engineers of RpCC Md. Asaduzzaman and Md. Abu Taleb Sarkar, its Executive Engineer Md. Azam Ali, Chief Revenue Officer Joyoshree Rani Roy, Property Officer Md. Ahsan Habib, Urban Planner Md. Nazrul Islam, City Councilors, professionals and civil society members participated in the open discussion
