RAJSHAHI, April 20, 2023 (BSS)- Five more foot over bridges are going to be built at important road crossings aimed at lessening the gradually mounting traffic congestion together with making the pedestrian movement smooth in the city.
The bridges will be constructed at Shaheb Bazar Zero Point, Laxmipur Mintu Crossing, Polytechnic Crossing, Talaimary crossing and Binodpur crossing at a total cost of around Taka 27.92 crore.'
On behalf of its Taka 2,993-crore project titled 'Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City', Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) will construct the bridges in the first phase.
City Mayor and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed this while inaugurating construction works of two of the bridges at Mintu crossing and Binodpur crossing in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
He also said they have got approval to construct ten foot over bridges under the project. "Now, we are establishing five bridges in the first phase, while five more bridges in the second phase," he added.
Under the mega project, the RCC is also going to construct five more flyovers as soon as possible for the overall development of the metropolis by freeing it from traffic congestion.
The flyovers will be constructed on Haragram Natunpara Railway Crossing, Rajshahi Court Station Railway Crossing, Bilsimla Railway Crossing, Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Railway Crossing, Bhadra Railway Crossing and Mohanpur Railway Crossing.
Earlier, the city corporation has constructed a 202.5-meter flyover along with a 120-meter ramp at Budhpara Railway crossing with an estimated cost of Taka 29.28 crore for the first time in Rajshahi city.
Liton said the Rajshahi city will get a new look upon the successful implementation of the mega project.
RCC Ward Councilors Muhammad Nuruzzaman and Shahidul Islam and Chief Engineer Nur Islam were present on the occasion.
