RANGPUR, April 20, 2023 (BSS) - The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation (Eid Jamaat) will be held at Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah Maidan at 8.30 am on the Eid day in the city amid due religious fervor amid adequate security measures.
Officials in the district administration and Islamic foundation said public representatives, high officials, dignitaries, political leaders, academics, civil society members and professionals are expected to participate in the main congregation.
Alternatively, the first main Eid-ul-Fitr Jamaat will be held at the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center at 8.30am and the second congregation at 9 am there if the weather remains unfavorable.
Rangpur City Corporation in association with the district administration, Islamic Foundation and Rangpur Metropolitan Police is working relentlessly to complete all preparations to arrange the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation.
Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be arranged at Eidgahs, mosques and open grounds in the city, all eight upazila headquarters and three municipalities and rural areas across the district.
The national flag will be hoisted atop all government and private buildings, improved diets be served to inmates of the hospitals, orphanages, jail, vagrant centres and Shishu Paribars.
Rangpur City Corporation continues decorating Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah Maidan for the main congregation and main streets with the national flag and colorful flags and banners bearing inscriptions 'Eid Mubarak' giving charming looks to the city.
Besides, the main streets and major buildings will be illuminated and colorfully decorated on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
In Rangpur city, major Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be held at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other Eidgahs and mosques between 8:30 am and 9:30 am.
Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats will be held at Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Central Eidgah, Badarganj Central Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Paikan Baro Jumma Mosque ground in Gangachara upazila between 8:30 am and 10 am.
Tens of hundreds of Muslim devotees will offer special munajats in the congregations seeking divine blessings for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and humanity as a whole.
Regarding the law and order situation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md. Abu Maruf Hossain told reporters that there is no problem with the Eid congregations in Rangpur metropolis.
"Even so, the white-clothed detective surveillance has been increased to ensure smooth conduct of Eid congregations. Adequate number of police forces will be present at important Eid congregations in the city," he said.
Besides, police patrols have been intensified and the number of check posts has been increased on major roads.
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police of District Police Md. Tariqul Islam said that detective surveillance has been increased to prevent any untoward incident in the district on the Eid day.
"Besides, three police vehicles will be on standby on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr along with police mobile patrolling so that any untoward incident can be easily dealt with instantly," he said.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen in the district law and order core committee meeting held at her conference room on Wednesday asked all concerned to be aware to take necessary steps to maintain a peaceful situation during the Eid-ul-Fitr.
