JHALOKATHI, May 9, 2023 (BSS) - A mobile court of the Department of Environment today realised Taka nine lakh as fine for various irregularities from owners of two brick kilns in Magar village under Nalchity upazila of the district.
The mobile court led by Neher Nigar Tanu, Executive Magistrate (Senior Assistant Secretary) of the Department of Environment of Barishal conducted the drive at MMD Bricks, fined Taka five lakh in Magar village of the upazila and Moon Bricks of the same area fined taka four lakh for making bricks by extracting soil from agricultural land and setting up brick kilns inside residential areas of the upazila.
The brick kilns were fined Taka 900,000 for various irregularities under Sections 5 and 8 of the Brick Making and Kiln Installation (Regulation) Act, 2013 (Amendment 2019).
Members of the law enforcement agencies assisted the mobile court.
The mobile court also demolished the three brick kilns. These establishments had been operating illegally, Deputy Director of Department of Environment of Barishal H M Bashed said.
