SATKHIRA, May 19, 2023 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion in a drive arrested a person, who was convicted for attacking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's motorcade in Satkhira in 2002, from Kalaroa upazila of the district today. 
 
The detainee was identified as Ripon Hossain, a resident of the Kalaroa area. 
 
Captain of RAB-6 lieutenant colonel Mostak Ahmed, in a press conference, said on information, a team of the force conducted a drive at Ripon's house at around 8 pm last night in Kolaroa and arrested him. 
 
On 30 August, 2002, Sheikh Hasina's motorcade was attacked in front of Kalaroa Upazila BNP office in Satkhira. 

Then, three cases were filed over the attack. 
On February 4 in 2021, a Satkhira court sentenced him in one of the cases filed over the convoy attack. 
 
On April 18 this year, Ripon was awarded life-term imprisonment in connection with two other cases over the attack. 
 
Ripon was handed over to Kalaroa Thana police.
