Bir Bahadur opens 8.5-km paved road in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, June 17, 2023 (BSS) - Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing today inaugurated an 8.5-kilometer paved road in Bandarban.

As part of Sheikh Hasina-led government's endeavors to make hill people's life and movement smooth and trouble-free, the minister opened the road starting from KB road at Bandarban sadar to Kanapara area in the district.

The newly constructed paved road beside the remote hills of Bandarban was constructed under the supervision of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) at a cost of Taka 7 crore 77 lakh 53 thousand, according to a press release issued here today.

Besides, Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing inaugurated the two-storey 'Reicha Gramin Bazar' built with the foundation of four-storey building at the cost of Tk 3 crore 82 lakh and 29 thousand.

While addressing a view exchanging meeting held at Reicha Bazar in Bandarban, Bir Bahadur, said the biggest problem for the people of the three hill districts was the transportation system in remote areas.

Noting that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the only one who deserves the credit for the development in the hilly areas, he said the Awami League-led government and the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are needed for the welfare of the people of the country and the peace of the hill people.
