RANGPUR, June 23, 2023 (BSS) - The district and city units of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies today celebrated the 74th founding anniversary of the party through colorful programs in the city.
Leaders of the district and city units of AL hoisted the national and party flags at their respective offices and placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and brought out rallies.
Later, the district and city units of AL organized two separate discussions at respective party offices in the Betpotti area of the city.
Presided over by Convener of Rangpur city Awami League Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain, its Joint Convener Md. Abul Kashem moderated a post-rally discussion held at its office.
Convener of Rangpur district Awami League AKM Chhayadat Hossain Bakul presided over another discussion moderated by its Joint Convener Mazed Ali Babul held at its office.
Leaders of the district and city units of the party and its associate bodies including Mohila Awami League, Swechchasebak League, Sramik League, Jubo League and Chhatra League were present.
Senior leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies including Rosy Rahman, Utpal Sarker, Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Mortuza Mansur, Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, among others, addressed.
The speakers discussed the glorious history of AL that brought independence for the nation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Abul Kashem narrated the superb record of struggles of AL and said that the country achieved Independence by winning the War of Liberation in 1971 against the Pakistani occupation forces under the leadership of Bangabandhu.
Dr. Delwar Hossain said, "Bangabandhu and AL are inseparable as never-ending sources of inspirations and the nation continues building a smart and developed 'Sonar Bangla' under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Chhayadat Hossain Bakul urged leaders and workers of the party to remain united and inform them about the massive development conducted by the AL-led government in the last 14 years ensuring welfare of common people as dreamed by Bangabandhu.
