RANGPUR, June 26, 2023 (BSS) - Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to make Bangladesh Police Force as People's Police to establish Bangladesh as a true People's Republic in the world.
Newly appointed Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman said this while exchanging views with journalists at his conference here this afternoon.
He remembered with due respect all martyrs, four national leaders and martyrs in the Great War of Liberation, the greatest Bangalee Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his wife Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, who were martyred on August 15.
He also remembered the martyred policemen who resisted in the first hour of independence.
"After implementing Digital Bangladesh, the government has announced implementation of Smart Bangladesh under Vision 2041," he said, adding that RpMP is committed to forming a "Smart Police Force" as announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Police Week-2023.
The RpMP Chief urged journalists to express their opinions about the current problems of Rangpur city and what should be done in this regard.
The journalists gave their opinions about various crimes including the spread of drugs, law and order situation and existing problems of traffic management and requested legal measures.
The RpMP Commissioner presented his statement based on the opinion given by the journalists.
"I strongly believe in strengthening ongoing police activities to maintain law and order in the metropolis and to work with people at all levels for formulation and implementation of a timely future plan," he said.
He also appealed to respectable citizens of the city to cooperate with information about militant, terrorism, anti-state and subversive activities and various crimes including drug, theft, robbery, eviction and child marriage.
The Commissioner of Police informed journalists about launching the RpMP media wing, providing police services to people's doorsteps without harassment, modernizing police control rooms, combating cyber crime and ensuring cyber security.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to journalists for their cooperation since the inception of RpMP and hoped that the constructive criticism of journalists will be helpful for RpMP to continue on the path of improvement and prosperity.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations), Deputy Commissioner of Police (CTSB), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and other senior police officers were present.
