11.78pc Covid-19 positivity rate recorded in Rangpur division

 RANGPUR, Aug 25, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded an 11.78 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 43 fresh cases were reported after testing 365 collected samples of all eight districts in the division today.
 
The Covid-19 situation continues showing an improving trend almost during the last two weeks in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight.
 
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 12.01 percent on Tuesday, 11.54 percent on Monday, 13.15 percent on Sunday, 15.16 percent on Saturday, 25.39 percent on Friday and 16.37 percent on Thursday last in the division.
 
Among the 43 new patients, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 177 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 10.73 percent today.
   
“The 19 new patients include nine from Rangpur, one from Kurigram, two from Gaibandha, and seven from Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:20 pm.
 
On the other hand, 24 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 12.77 percent today.
 
“The 24 new Covid-19 infected patients include 12 from Dinajpur, six from Thakurgaon, one from Nilphamari and five from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
   
Talking to BSS tonight, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients reached 52,260 as 43 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
   
“The district-wise break up of total 52,260 patients stands at 11,855 in Rangpur, 3,424 in Panchagarh, 4,276 in Nilphamari, 2,617 in Lalmonirhat, 4,447 in Kurigram, 7,081 in Thakurgaon, 14,024 in Dinajpur and 4,536 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
