GOPALGANJ, July 8, 2023 (BSS) - An elderly man was killed in a road accident on the Ghonapara-Patgati road in new market area under Tungipara upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Asad Sharif, 70, resident of Gimadanga Ghazalia village of Patgati union under Tungipara upazila.

The accident occurred as a Golden Line Transport bus from Dhaka hit him, while he crossing the road around 1:30pm, leaving him injured, inspector (investigation) of Tungipara Police Station, Zahirul Alam said.

Locals rescued him and taken to Tungipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Police seized the bus, but its driver and helper escaped from the spot, he said.

The body was handed over to the victim's family members, he added.
