RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2023 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has launched a fortnight long special mosquito control drive to prevent dengue spread today.
Under the drive, various activities, including cleanliness, cleaning of drains and destruction of mosquito larvae through insecticide, will be conducted.
Around 1,300 workers of RCC's waste management division will remain engaged in the work.
RCC Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu accompanied by Ward Councilors Abdus Sobhan and Towhidul Haque, Secretary Mosiur Rahman, Chief Conservancy Officer Shaikh Mamun and Chief Health Officer Dr Anjuman Ara Begum launched the special drive at T&T Colony area.
Panel Mayor Shariful Islam said the number of dengue cases is gradually rising for the last couple of weeks. So, the city corporation has taken need-based measures to eradicate mosquitoes.
He said the works of the conservancy besides cleaning the places which are prone to water stagnant and removal of wastages from drains will be expedited under the drive.
Panel Mayor Islam urged all the government, autonomous, semi-government and educational institutions and households to keep their respective catchment areas clean.
