JOYPURHAT, July 26,, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two people to death on the charges of killing a man, Sabuj Ali, in Khanjanpur area under Sadar upazila of the district in 2008.
Judge of Additional district and session's judge court-2 Md. Abbas Uddin pronounced the verdict this afternoon. The court also fined them Taka 10,000 each.
The death convicts are - Kafi alias Kafu, son of Kader Bepari, resident of Altaf Nagar village under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura district and Sadiqul Islam, son of late Shaukat Ali, resident of Panishail village under Atwari upazila of Panchagarh district.
According to the details of the case, on the night of August 1, 2008, Sabuj Ali, 38, son of Altaf Ali, resident of Kochpukuria village under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura district, was strangled to death by twisting raw jute fibers around his neck in Khanjanpur area of Sadar upazila of the district by the accused.
The next morning, the police recovered his body from a jute field.
Police filed a murder case against them with Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff.
The investigating officer of the case, sub-inspector (SI) Mominul Haque, filed a charge-sheet in the court against them on March 4, 2009.
After examining the record and witnesses, the court found them guilty.
Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Nripendranath Mandal confirmed the matter.
