CHATTOGRAM, July 28, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 21 leaders and activists of Jamaat and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir were arrested in Chattogram city today after they launched an attack on law enforcers, injuring four cops including an assistant commissioner.

The Jamaat-Shibir men launched the attack from their sudden procession brought out after Jumma prayers in Choumuhoni area under Double Mooring Police Station in the port city. Four policemen including assistant commissioner Mukul Chakma of Double Mooring Zone got injured and a police pickup was vandalized in the attack.

According to the locals, the Jamaat-Shibir men brought out the procession from Agrabad area and held a brief rally in Choumuhoni area. They suddenly launched the attack on law enforcers, throwing brickbats indiscriminately on police. They vandalized two vehicles, including one of police.

"We have arrested 21 men after the attack and they are being interrogated. Necessary legal actions are being taken," officer-in-charge Sakhawat Hossain of Double Mooring Police Station said.
