RANGPUR, Aug 6, 2023 (BSS) – The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangpur Mohammad Mobasswer Hasan today sought media support for continuation of development with transparency on the way to build a ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
“Journalists are the mirror of the society and their news reports reflect good and bad deeds helping us to understand how to work is being done,” he said at a view-exchange meeting with the journalists at his conference room here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) AWM Raihan Shah and other officials concerned were present at the event.
The participating journalists pointed out various local issues and prospects and forwarded suggestions to resolve those and explore possibilities to further accelerate the development in Rangpur.
The DC said he has a special feeling for Rangpur from where he began his career as an Assistant Commissioner of the 27th BCS (admin) cadre in 2008 in the district administration followed by working in the divisional administration.
Responding to some issues raised by journalists, he said “Stern actions will be taken against those involved in corruption or irregularities in the district administration, if any, and none will be spared.”
“The DCs and journalists both have an identical impartial stand between plaintiffs and accused. I am for all journalists to equally provide information with the common aim of development,” he said.
He said, “No one in the district will be landless and homeless. As directed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are working to provide shelter to them. If anyone is landless and homeless, I am asking them to apply.”
He called upon the local journalists to work with positive perceptions and focus on development, prevailing local problems, issues, prospects and possibilities in different sectors of the district.
