Bangamata's 93rd birth anniversary celebrated in Rangpur


 
RANGPUR, Aug 8, 2023 (BSS) - The 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib was celebrated in a befitting manner with colorful programmes paying rich tributes to her here today.
 
The district administration and Department of Women Affairs jointly organised drawing and essay competitions for students, discussion, distribution of prizes and sewing machines and grants among distressed women to make them self-reliant.

Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman attended the discussion held at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium and distributed prizes, sewing machines and grants in a function arranged on the occasion as the chief guest,
 
With Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mobasswer Hasan in the chair, Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police Md Abdul Baten, Additional Commissioner of Police of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md Saifuzzaman Faruki and Superintendent of Police Md Ferdous Ali Chowdhury addressed the function as special guests.
 
Focusing on the life, works and sacrifice of Bangamata, the speakers said that she properly suggested Bangabandhu during crucial times of his long struggling political career on the way to eventually achieve national independence.
 
The chief guest said the nation would remember Bangamata ceaselessly for her incomparable sacrifice during the long rough and tough political life of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
 
Later, the chief guest with other guests distributed sewing machines among trained poor, helpless and distressed women and grants among distressed women and women organisations marking the occasion.
 
Meanwhile, the district unit of Mohila Awami League celebrated the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata through various programs at its office in Betpotti area of the city.
 
The programs included placing of wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu and Bangamata and doa mehfil followed by offering special munajat and discussion.
 
Similarly, the district and metropolitan city unit of AL chalked out identical programs at its office to celebrate the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata.
 
Leaders of the district and metropolitan units of Mohila Awami League, district and metropolitan units of Awami league and associate bodies participated in the programs.
 
Meanwhile, Jubo League leader and former President of district Chatra League Mehedee Hasan Siddiqui Rony distributed wheel chairs among 93 physically challenged women and men in a function held at district Awami League office marking the day.
 
District Awami League Joint Convener Advocate Md Anwarul Islam, its Member Wasimul Bari Shimu, Jubo League leaders Azizul Islam Murad, Rajib Hasan Sumon, Merajul Islam Meraj and Abdus Sobhan Mian, among others, attended the function.
