HOOD gives sewing machines to women at Sadarpur

FARIDPUR, Aug 25, 2023 (BSS) - Members of Humanitarian Organisation for Old and Distressed (HOOD), a non-profitable organization today distributed 10 sewing machines, wheelchairs and cash to women at Sadarpur here.

"We have handed over 10 sewing machines and kits to rural women in Sadarpur upazila area as part of our campaign to stand beside extreme poor across the country," said president of HOOD Professor Dr Md Nazrul Hossain Titu.

Addressing a function at Narikelbaria union under Sadarpur upazila, he said the HOOD provided sewing machines, kits, wheelchair and cash to some needy people.

Local Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ahsan Mahmood Rassel, HOOD General Secretary Engineer Md Hasan Ahmed Khan Sajal, assistant secretary Engineer Gholam Mohammed Noble, Deputy Secretary of commerce ministry Md Sayed Ali, Md Alamgir Hossain, Engineer Rashek Ahmed, Diara Narikelbaria Union Parisad Chairman Md Nasir Sardar and Akarchar Union Chairman Md Aslam Bepary joined the distribution ceremony.

HOOD, an organization formed by the ex-students of the Notre Dame College, distributed a wheelchair to a physically challenged person Md Faruque and gave some cash for his treatment. 

The humanitarian organization also gave commitment to the local UNO for giving support for the construction work of Diara Narikelbaria High School.

HOOD General Secretary Sajal said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought remarkable changes in the life of rural people by introducing ICT-based services for rural development.

Earlier, the HOOD organised a free health camp, seminars, provided financial support for treatment of a helpless three-year-old child, suffering from blood cancer, in Sylhet.

The HOOD provided rickshaws to a physically challenged person named Alamgir and financial assistance for treatment of his ailing child.
