KHULNA, Sept 25, 2023 (BSS) - Khulna district police have arrested seven robbers from different places and seized gold ornaments, cash money, mobile sets and lethal weapons from their possession.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khulna Sayedur Rahman disclosed the information today at a press briefing at his conference room here.

A special team of Dumuria police conducted separate drives in different areas of Satkhira, Jashore and Khulna districts on September 23 and 24 and arrested seven robbers including a woman, members of an inter district dacoits gang, he said.

The arrested dacoits were identified as Majedul Sarder, Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, Sayedul Gazi, Moslem Sheikh, Alamgir Mir, Md Siddique and Morium Begum.

Police also recovered five gold ornaments (Bracelets), one gold ring and cash Taka 27,800, six mobile sets and huge lethal weapons from their possessions.

The robbers were sent to jail through the court, he said, adding that over a dozen of cases were filed against them in different police stations. Of them Sayedul Gazi is a 10-year convicted accused of a robbery case.

On September 22, a gang of robbers equipped with lethal weapons committed robberies at the house of Raihan Sarder and his Uncle Sabazul Molla at village Boratia under Atla union of Dumuria upazila. They looted gold ornaments, cash money, mobile sets and valuable materials.

Raihan Sarder filed a case with Dumuria Police Station on the next day in this connection.
