TUNGIPARA, Gopalganj, Oct, 06, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 3,000 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the Incentive and Rehabilitation Program for the cultivation of wheat in the coming Rabi season.

To increase the interest of farmers in wheat cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.

He said that 20 kgs of wheat seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer were given free of cost to each of 3,000 farmers for wheat cultivation on one bigha of land.

Among them, 750 farmers of Sadar Upazila, 800 farmers of Muksudpur Upazila, 600 farmers of Kashiani Upazila, 450 farmers of Kotalipara Upazila and 400 farmers of Tungipara Upazila will get wheat seed free of cost seeds.

The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers will start very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, he said.
