MANIKGANJ, Oct 15, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced one person to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in Manikganj in 2003.

The convict was identified as Masum of village Shibrampur under Shibalaya Upazila of the district.

District and Sessions Judge of Maniganj Sabina Yasmin pronounced the verdict today in presence of the convict in a crowded court room. The court also fined him Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer six months more.

According to the prosecution story, the accused killed his wife Nargis by strangulating her at his residence following a family feud on April 9, in 2003. He went into hiding after the killing. On information, Shibalaya Police recovered the body and sent it to morgue of Maniganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Police also filed a murder case against Masum with Shibalay Police Station in this connection.
 
 Investigation Officer (IO) submitted a charge sheet against the accused.

After examining the documents and witnesses, the judge pronounced the verdict.
