JAMALPUR, Oct 16, 2023 (BSS)-A minor girl was drowned in a pond at a village under Bakshiganj Upazila in the district here this morning.

The victim was identified as Morium Aktar, 5, daughter of Md Babul Miah at Merurchar Uttarpara village under Bakshiganj Upazila of the district.

According to the police, Morium along with another minor girl went to a nearby pond (ditch) to pluck hyacinth flower at her aunt house at village Bhati Kolkihara of the same Upazila. Suddenly, both the girls felt in the ditch.

Hearing the news, local people rescued one but Morium was drowned. Police said Moriom went to her aunt house with her grandmother on Sunday.
