CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Oct 22, 2023 (BSS)- Construction of a bridge over the 
Mohananda river at Bhabanipur Foaram ghat under Bangabari union in Gomostapur 
upazila of the district was inaugurated yesterday. 

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) would construct the 428.60 
meter long bridge at a cost of Taka 63,56,92,921 under the "Construction of 
Important Bridges on Rural Roads (2nd phase) Project".

Lawmaker of Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole-Gomostapur-Bholahat) constituency Md 
Ziaur Rahman inaugurated the construction work by laying the foundation stone 
as the chief guest at a function with President of Bangabari union unit of 
Awami League Md. Saderul Islam in the chair. 

Mayor of Rohonpur municipality Matiur Rahman Khan, Chairman of Bholahat 
Upazila Parishad Rabbul Hossain, Vice-Chairman of Gomostapur Upazila Parishad 
Hasanuzzaman Nuh, Executive Engineer of Chapainawabganj District LGED Office 
Mozahar Ali Pramanik and the public representatives of the union parishads of 
the upazila were present, among others, in the function. 

The chief guest said that the long cherished demand of the people of 
Gomostapur and Bholahat upazilas for constructing the bridge is going to be 
fulfilled. 

After completion of the bridge, the distance between Rohonpur to Bholahat 
would be less by about eight kilometers, he added.

Mentionable, people of the two upazilas cross the river by boat at present.
