CHATTOGRAM, Oct 24, 2023 (BSS) - Idols of Goddess Durga were immersed peacefully in the city and district today after a five-day colorful and joyous Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.
Immersions were held in the city's Patenga and Khalurghat beach areas in the afternoon despite inclement weather with presence of a large number of people of the community.
Earlier, hundreds of Hindu devotees attired in their best dresses thronged different puja mandaps, including JM Sen Hall and Chatteshary Temple, in the city since morning to bid farewell to Goddess Durga and sought blessings.
They uttered 'Shuva Bijoya' and exchanged greetings with one another.
This year, as many as 293 puja mandaps were erected in the city and 2175 in 15 upazilas of the district, police said.
