RAJSHAHI, Nov 1, 2023 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in an anti-crime drive, arrested an alleged top-listed firearm trader with a foreign pistol in the city last night.

 The arrested was identified as Itibur Rahman, 42, son of late Idrish Ali of Shibpur village under Charghat Upazila in the district, RAB sources said here this morning.

 On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Meerganj area under Bagha Upazila in the district around 9.30 pm and arrested him.

 The operation team recovered a foreign made pistol and a magazine from his possession, according to the RAB sources.

 The RAB team detained the person for his long-term involvement in firearms and drugs trading and trafficking.

 In another anti-crime drive, another RAB team arrested an alleged drug paddler Nasir Uddin 40, with 530 grams of heroin from Basantapur area under Godagari Upazila in the district around 10.15 pm.

Two separate cases were recorded with the respective police stations in these connections and the arrested persons, along with the seized goods, were handed over to police, the sources added.
