National Constitution Day observed in Rajshahi

 

RAJSHAHI, Nov 4, 2023 (BSS) - Portraying significance of the National Constitution Day, district administration organized a discussion meeting at its conference hall today.

The Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of Bangladesh on 4 November 1972, and came into effect on 16 December of the same year.

This year's theme of the day is 'Bangabandhur Vabona, Songvidhaner Bornona'.

With Deputy Commissioner Kolyan Chowdhury in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Assistant Superintendent of Police Niamat Ullah, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat and District Livestock Officer Zulfikar Muhammad Akhter Hossain.

Taherpur Pourashava Mayor Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Vice-president of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Abdul Awal Khan and Additional Deputy Commissioners Sarker Asim Kumar and Anisul Islam also spoke on the occasion.

The meeting was told that the constitution is the governing document of the constitutional institutions, including the executive department, parliament and judiciary of the state.

It ensures the fundamental rights of the people and principles of conducting a state.

The bold leadership and single-minded efforts of Bangabandhu led to the creation of the constitution of Bangladesh within a short period of time after the independence of the country based on the discussions and opinions of the public representatives.

In the meeting, most of the discussants unanimously mentioned that all the government, non-government and other stakeholders should come forward and work together to protect the image and dignity of the constitution collectively.
